Asian Heritage Month with Turkish Society of Canada

Toronto Public Library, Mayıs ayını Asian Heritage Month olarak kutladı. Bu çerçevede Toronto’nun farklı kütüphanelerinde Asya ülkelerinden farklı kültürleri tanıtan etkinlikler düzenlendi. Halka açık ve ücretsiz bu etkinliklerin bir parçası ise Türk kültürünün ayrılmaz bir parçası olan kilim dokuma etkinliği idi.

Turkish Society of Canada gönüllüleri  10 Mayıs  ve 31 Mayıs tarihlerinde sırası ile Maria Shchuka ve Gerrard Ashdale kütüphanelerinde katılımcılara Türk kilimi ve dokuma teknikleri konusunda atölye çalışması yaptı.

Geniş katılımın olduğu ve katılımcıların büyük keyif aldıkları etkinlik sürecinde gönüllülerimiz, Kanada toplumuna Türk kültürünü tanıtma ve güzel ve kalıcı dostluklar kurma olanağı buldular.

Katılımcılardan ve organizasyondan gelen teşekkür mesajları verilen emeklerin karşılığının alındığının bir göstergesi oldu. Sizlerle aşağıda paylaşıyoruz:

“I was one if the participants at last week’s Kilim weaving workshop at the Gerard library. Will it be possible to get a picture of how the finished wall hanging looks like? I am enjoying working on the project and would like to be able to finish it but, I will be able to do so only if I see how it’s supposed to look. I should have taken a picture of the sample but I forgot.
