“Helping Hand” Aleyna

Turkish Society of Canada’nın sosyal etkinliklerine her yıl daha fazla sayıda çocuğumuzun ve gencimizin katılması gelecek için hepimize umut veriyor. Bunlardan biri de yıllardır cangönüllerimizden olan Aleyna  Özer. Aleyna, bu yıl gerçekleştirdiğimiz Special Olympics etkinliği ardından, okulda sınıf arkadaşlarına ve öğretmenine gönüllü olarak görev aldığı Special Olympics etkinliği hakkında bir konuşma yapmıştı. Öğretmeni Aleyna’nın konuşmasını çok beğenerek, bu konuşmayı okulun aylık The Buzz at Brian dergisinde “Helping Hand” başlığı altında duyurdular ve tüm öğrenci ve velilerine ulaştırdılar. Ayrıca Aleyna’nın öğretmeninin etkinlik hakkında sınıfta öğrencilere güzel ve destekleyici bir konuşma yapması Aleyna’yı etkinliğin bir parçası olması nedeni ile daha da gururlandırdı. Helping Hand

On May 1st, 2015 Aleyna O., a grade 4 FI student, volunteered at the Special Olympics for children with disabilities. This is her recount of that amazing day: “Every volunteer was put in an activity station. I was in charge of indoor hockey, where I was the goalie and coach. First, I had to explain to the rules of the game. We wanted to make sure the children were happy and having fun, so I always made sure I was in the corner of the net, so the ball could go in from the other side. If not, I would move the net or take my own stick and push the ball into the net. Everyone laughed their heads off and had a lot of fun. When I got home, my hands were hurting from all the clapping and my voice was hoarse, but my heart was happy. You too should come out and volunteer at the Special Olympics next year!”
